Browser Client Hints

Some browsers intentionally reduce or hide device information to improve privacy. Values shown here depend on what your browser chooses to expose.

What browser information can websites see?

When you visit a website, your browser automatically sends technical information that helps the server deliver compatible content. This can include the browser family, operating system, preferred languages, accepted content encodings and certain client hints.

JavaScript can reveal additional capabilities such as screen size, color depth, logical processor count, touch support and browser feature availability. These values describe the browsing environment but do not necessarily identify a specific person.

How the Browser Info tool works

  1. Open the Browser Info page in the browser you want to inspect.
  2. Review server-visible information detected from HTTP headers.
  3. Review browser-side information collected locally with JavaScript.

Understanding browser information

The user agent and client hints can indicate browser and operating-system details, while language and encoding headers describe content preferences supported by the browser.

JavaScript-derived information can vary because privacy settings, browser protections and extensions may reduce or modify what is exposed. Some values can therefore appear unavailable even when the underlying capability exists.

Common uses for browser information

  • Troubleshoot browser-specific website problems.
  • Check what device and browser details are exposed to websites.
  • Compare browser behavior after changing privacy settings.
  • Verify client hints and language configuration.
  • Understand basic browser fingerprinting inputs.
